Drilling into concrete vs stud walls, bracket types, HDB renovation rules, and realistic prices for wiring when wall-mounting a TV.
TV wall mounting sounds simple — until you discover HDB’s rules on concrete-drilling, conduit, and fire-rated doors. This guide covers the practicalities.
HDB walls are usually lean concrete or brick. Condo walls may be hollow partitions or concrete, depending on the build. A concrete wall requires hammer-drilling and wall-plugs; a hollow wall needs toggle bolts.
Surface conduit in HDB is acceptable. Recessed chasing into concrete requires HDB approval if the depth is significant. Clipped trunking on the surface is the most common, low-risk approach.
Small TV wall-mount (32–43”): $40–$80. 55–65” with full-motion bracket: $100–$180. Cable concealment adds $30–$80 depending on wall type and conduit length.
